Currently, I am leading another Snow Monkey Japan Photography Tour group. Today the group and I hiked up to the Jigokudani hot springs for an up close and personal encounter with Japan's most famous primates, the snow monkeys.

There were dozens of Japanese macaque’s enjoying the warmth and healing properties of the hot springs, while others were enjoying sunbathing.

Young snow monkeys are always full of energy and were enjoying rolling around and playing in the snow.

The Japanese macaque is a terrestrial Old World monkey species that is native to Japan. Jigokudani Yaenkoen was established in 1964 in the highlands forest of the Jigokudani valley in Yamanouchi, and to this day, offers a unique experience to photograph and visit with these wild Japanese macaques. My team and I visit the snow monkeys a dozen, or more times per year, in Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn.
