One does not imagine a giant straw walrus and Japan together just don’t fit. Last summer we spent helping our contractor renovate a traditional Japanese home built in the Taisho era, by the sea of Japan for our summer retreat. A long weekend was upon us; this mystery flyer appeared in our post box (wara rice straw art festival) puzzled, we had no idea what to expect, but off we went. Caught comply off guard never expected such fantastically created pieces of art and all made from rice straw.
