The annual Bunsui Cherry Blossom Festival Oiran parade is an art form from another time. Over seventy years the peoples of Bunsui have kept their cultural tradition celebrating spring with an elegant geisha/maiko courtesans parade with their full entourage of over sixty, dressed in high fashion wear kimonos with beautiful hair styles with kanzashi hair ornaments and fresh flowers. Astonishingly the majority of the troupe have been studying this world-renowned art form since their childhood, in the procession adoring children from 6-8 years of age you can be viewed in traditional handmade silk kimonos of the highest quality. These events are numerous across Japan and gaining in popularity with foreign visitors and are a magnet for photographers with dazzling displays that easily outdo the snapshot of geisha on the streets of Kyoto, Tokyo.
