•Hakone, at the base of mount fuji, is one of the most popular destinations in Japan, for its natural beauty, historical sights, and hot springs.
•Mt. Fuji, the highest peak and the iconic symbol of Japan, most popular for landscape photography and hiking.
•Nikko, the Toshogu Shinto Shrine established in 1617 is a brilliantly decorated memorial for Tokugawa Ieyasu the first Shogun of the Edo Period. There are over one hundred Shrines and Temples of Nikko dating back over 1,200 years, in a natural Zen setting. 
•Tokyo is said to be one of the most popular Cites of the world and from my experience one of the most beautiful and safe, with endless photographic opportunities.
•Kyoto is most famous for the Kinaku-ji - golden pavilion temple, facing Kyoko pond. This Zen temple represents the blends of the Samurai elite culture the imperial household.
•Nara Japan’s first permanent capital established in the year 710. Nara is best known for the ancient and mysterious Kofun Mounds.
•Jigokudani Yaen-Koen and the world famous wild snow monkeys.
•Nagano highlands are best for autumn foliage.
•Niigata is on one of the most spectacular birding migration routes throughout the Asia Pacific region. It's also known for its locally grown foods, Japanese cuisine, and hospitality. Niigata is one of the hidden gems of Japan off the beaten path.
•Kanazawa is best known for it’s well-preserved Edo era district and arts.
Hokkaido, the most northern island of Japan, is best known for wildlife and nature photography.

Japan has four distinct seasons. The climate does widely vary depending on the region, as the country is over 3000 kilometers long from north to south, and is over 70% unpopulated wilderness.
