This magical landscape with lovely spring flowers glowing, I capture during the golden hour on the outskirts of Tokyo’s North-West foothills. For those of us who love the hearts healing of flowers; we know that spring is the peak season to be planning our photography visits to botanical wonderland gardens, taking a stroll in the foothills or local park. The first and into the second week of May, I am on a Private Japan Tour/Workshop that has turned into an annual Spring pilgrimed, for myself and friends of mine from the United Kingdom; taking us through the prefectures of Yamanashi-Kanagawa-Tokyo-Saitama-Gunma and Tochigi, Japan. Our annual route has us photographing some of the most beautiful displays of flowers in the world, such as the lovely Lupins, Rosa banksiae, Japanese Wisteria, Peony’s, Azaleas and a sea of others taking us through to over fifty magical locations and growing yearly. Each new day we greet well before first light at our chosen golden hour location; our gear and Lee Filters are ready for the magic. I love when the direct light from our star hits my lens causing a natural flare effect. I usually set up two camera’s with different lenses and apertures to render different unique effects of light. These are magical times to be a photographer in our digital age; I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am!
