February 22 - March 5
11 Day Exclusive Hokkaido photo extravaganza.
To view the endangered Steller Sea Eagles in their natural habitat, we will board a vessel and be navigated thorough drift and pack ice. If safe, we will walk on the ice. We may also catch a glimpse of whales and seals. There is over 160 kilometers - (100 miles) of pristine untouched coastline with such wildlife as the red tail fox, white tail eagle and commonly seen sika deer. In the winter of both years, 2015 and 2016 I photographed a herd of over 500 sika deer. This is a rare event and I hope you will also be honored to view such a spectacular sight.
Kushiro Shitsugen National Park is in the interior, where we will visit the endangered red crowned crane.
From the coastline we venture to the highland alpine route of Lake Akan and The Volcanic Complex. This is home to the first nation people of Hokkaido. We will experience the spiritual celebration of the Iomante Fire Festival. Hokkaido is sacred to the Ainu people; we will only leave footprints and a peace of our heart behind.
